Lakeside Business Park, South Cerney, Gloucestershire, GL7 5XL

Produce: Truffle oils, truffle mustard, truffle mayonnaise, truffle salt.

Truffles have a pungent, intense, earthy fragrance that lend a unique exquisite flavour and aroma to food. The truffle can be used in small quantities and yet its flavour and aroma turn a standard offering into a gourmet experience. These highly sought after subterranean delights enhance many food recipes with their unique and intoxicating taste.

When it comes to hunting the finest quality, fresh truffles from the most fertile locations, TruffleHunter will be the first to have them in their sights.

After 10 years of committed and dedicated foraging through woodlands and fields, they can confidently claim to be true artisan specialists, in locating some of the finest quality truffles from secret locations around Europe.

Sourcing quality truffles is no mean feat with weather conditions, micro-climates and the time of year, all playing a vital role in producing this elusive elixir of fruiting fungus.

Furthermore, they mainly grow wild which requires the expertise of an experienced Truffle Hunter and the keen nose of his loyal four-legged friend.

It is clear to see why this scarcity has given truffles a reputation of high class luxury. Truffles taste so incredibly rich and pungent that once you've tasted one, you'll never forget the exceptional taste. Imagine a light meaty, peppery aroma with overtones of chocolate, hazelnuts and vanilla. Salty, meaty and sweet all at the same time. Yum!

Nigel Whitehouse created TruffleHunter in 2010, at the foot of the Sibillini Mountains in Central Italy, where some of the world’s finest fresh truffles are to be found. After a number of years learning about sourcing and selling fresh truffles he set up his truffle distribution and manufacturing centre in the Cotswolds, England.

His truffles are now served in restaurants throughout the UK and much further afield, he even supplies a 3 Michelin Star restaurant in Japan! All of his truffles are produced in small hand-made batches at his Cotswold base; from truffle oils to truffle mustard and truffle mayonnaise to truffle salt.

The truffle’s unique aroma and taste does something magical to foods – shaved over pasta, added to scrambled eggs, omelette or risotto. Truffle oil is a perfect addition - a combination of olive oil and truffle extract which can be drizzled over pasta, risotto and used in salad dressings and sauces, but for the true connoisseur there’s no substitute for the unique taste of a natural, fresh truffle.
