Isle of Arran Cheese
Home Farm, Brodick, Isle of Arran, Isle of Arran, KA27 8DD
Produce: Flavoured Cheddar Cheese.
The Arran Cheese Shop are a family business, creating flavoured cheddars on the scenic island of Arran. They are committed to Quality, Consistency and Customer Service.
We think the Isle of Arran is a wonderful place to live, work and to produce great tasting cheese! It is one of the most southerly Scottish islands and, arguably, the most beautiful. The pretty villages on Arran's coastline are complemented by a rugged and mountainous interior in the north and green rolling hills and woodland in the south. There is a friendly relaxed atmosphere wherever you are on the island and Arran's version of road rage is when you forget to wave to someone.
The prevailing winds being South Westerly straight off the Atlantic means the Isle of Arran can deservedly claim to be "Clean and Green". It was therefore the most natural place to establish the Arran Cheese Company. The Shop is a family run business headed up by Gordon Kinniburgh and is located on the footprint of what was the original dairy for the Home Farm which supplied the Dukes and Duchesses of Brodick Castle for several centuries.
On average 1500 cheeses per day are made and each one is hand dipped four times in the wax pot.The Kinniburgh family produce a whole range of cheeses including their award winning Arran Blue, Arran Mist (Brie) and Camembert Cheeses. They sell their wares at farmers' markets and specialist delis and farm shops.
Gordon's motto is:to make a first class product every time, employ good people and treat customers and staff the way he would like to be treated himself.
This is a great opportunity to taste some delicious, traditional cheese made on a remote island of Scotland.
Their Wholegrain Mustard Cheddar has won the Best Dairy Retail Product in the Scotland Food and Drink Awards
