There is something quintessentially British about the sight of deer roaming the countryside over rolling hills and deep wooded valleys.  Once a meat favoured by the aristocracy and royalty, venison has, over the years, become more mainstream.

Yorkshireman Nigel Sampson is truly passionate about providing his customers with his fully traceable, quality assured venison that is low in fat and high in protein. Using his experience and passion of deer farming he has turned a one man farm into a company that produces award-winning prime venison. Nigel puts the business’s success down to two things: firstly the quality and full flavour of the products, and secondly the emergence of venison as ‘the new beef’.

Once a meat favoured by the aristocracy and royalty, venison has over the years become more mainstream. Venison has shrugged off its claret and tweed image and has become very popular as a healthier, lower fat alternative that’s naturally high in omega 3 fatty acids and versatile enough for both the summer barbecue and the winter roast or casserole.

If you are going to eat red meat, then one of the healthiest options is venison. Demand for the meat has been rocketing year on year due to its natural qualities as one of the healthiest meats available and Holme Farmed Venison are perfectly placed to provide you with a constant supply of high quality meat both farmed and wild.

The principal difference between farmed and wild venison is related to the diet of the animals. The flavour of wild venison is more gamey and rich. Farmed venison is much more consistent in flavour and is the option widely used by their catering customers.
