Produce: Slow Home Reared Herb Fed Chicken

A unique diet of over 10 varieties of fresh herbs really does produce a delicious bird with fantastic taste……we urge you to stock up your freezer!

In the heart of Yorkshire, beside the Hambleton Hills, Edward & Emma Wilkinson are producing delicious, slow grown chicken, with a flavour that is difficult to beat. The chickens enjoy a unique diet of over 10 varieties of fresh herbs, from Edward’s Aunt Alison’s local herb farm, Herbs Unlimited. The fresh herbs are put in small haysracks in the fields and the birds peck away at them as they roam happily outside.

The original inspiration for Herb Fed poultry came in 2009, when Edward noticed that the eggs from his Aunt Alison’s chickens tasted amazing.

Keen to return to his Yorkshire farming roots and leave his career as a chartered surveyor behind, Edward decided to see if feeding poultry fresh herbs had the same effect on the meat.

One rented field, 500 bronze turkeys and a diet of fresh herbs later……!

The results were wonderful, creating delicious moist meat, with greater depth and taste. We are delighted to say that Herb Fed was born!

The birds special diet, really does enhances the natural flavour of the meat, producing a ‘bird with taste’.

We urge you to stock up your freezer!
