Cocoa is associated with exotic tastes from distant plantations……. Bertil Akesson is a chocolate pioneer travelling between these beautiful, sustainable plantations in search of the finest quality cocoa beans to make his delicious award-winning chocolate.

 

Akessons Organic is synonymous for producing some of the highest quality chocolate, packed full of exotic aromas and taste.

Located in distant lands around the world including Madagascar, Brazil and Indonesia, their cocoa plantations produce some of the finest vintage cocoa beans, which in turn creates their exceptional chocolate.

A true pioneer of the ‘bean-to-bar’ movement, Bertil Akesson (Founder of Akessons Organic) was one of the first people to start selling high quality, Madagascan cocoa beans to small producers around the world. Åkesson’s Madagascan cocoa is a favourite amongst discerning chocolate producers.  The bars they make from Akesson's cocoa beans, along with Akesson's own chocolate bars, have won numerous awards around the world.

In fact, if awards alone were the measure of great tasting, quality chocolate then Akesson’s Organic would be setting a very high benchmark, having won a plethora of world class accolades ranging from multiple Golds and Silvers in the ‘Great Taste’ and ‘Academy of chocolate’ Awards to the much coveted ‘Golden Bean’ Award.

Bertil, is an adventurous pioneer in the chocolate world, travelling between his exotic plantations in search of the finest quality cocoa beans to make his great tasting chocolate.

He, began his fascinating journey into the magical world of cocoa, spices and other delicious natural wonders, whilst growing up on his family estate in Madagascar. Over the years, he has learnt the secrets and subtleties of managing and developing plantations.

Bertil focused on and specialized in fine cocoa and spices, with the ultimate aim of producing the highest quality beans in a sustainable way.

His plantations soon began supplying many world-famous chocolatiers and chefs, all creating very different tasting chocolates. So intrigued by this wide variety of tastes, Bertil decided to develop his own chocolate range, consisting of elegant bars which beautifully express the character and provenance of the raw materials and land from which they derive.
